You will work from an AMI/Intel reference BIOS, adapt it to new hardware, and support BIOS bring-up alongside the hardware and firmware teams.Your work will include:Developing and customizing UEFI BIOS for new products.Performing BIOS bring-up on newly designed boards.Debugging hardware/firmware issues during initial board startup.Working with hardware, FPGA, and other firmware engineers to validate system functionality.Supporting interfaces such as USB, PCI Express, SATA, and other board-level functionality.Taking BIOS development from initial bring-up through production.Background ProfileMust Have5+ years of hands-on BIOS development experience. (will consider less for exceptional background)Strong experience developing UEFI BIOS; modern UEFI experience is required rather than legacy BIOS exposure alone.Demonstrated experience personally developing BIOS, not simply working with systems that use BIOS.Experience with BIOS bring-up on newly designed hardware.Experience where the candidate's BIOS actually ran on the board they helped bring up.Strong working proficiency in C.Ability to perform low-level programming involving registers, memory, and peripherals.Experience customizing or porting BIOS to new hardware.Strong understanding of hardware/firmware interaction.Experience troubleshooting hardware and firmware integration issues during board bring-up.Ability to work directly with hardware engineers and other engineering disciplines.Strong communication and collaboration skills.Willingness and ability to work full-time on-site in Huntsville, Alabama.Core BIOS / UEFI BackgroundHands-on UEFI BIOS development.BIOS customization for new hardware.Experience with Intel reference BIOS is highly valuable.Experience with Intel/x86/x86-64 platforms.Understanding of computer architecture and platform initialization.DesiredAMI BIOS experiencePhoenix BIOS experience.Secure Boot / Trusted Boot.Intel Core i7 experience.AMD processor / Ryzen UEFI experience.ARM, NXP/Freescale, or PowerPC experience.Built-In Test (BIT).IPMI.Embedded Linux.Xilinx SDK.NXP K21.U-Boot.Slim Bootloader.RTOS experience.GCC and cross-compilers.Rugged embedded computing.VPX / OpenVPX.VME.CompactPCI.Defense/aerospace experience.DO-178B/C.Git or Perforce.Klocwork/static analysis.Jenkins/continuous integration.JIRA and Confluence.Agile/Scrum development environments.Experience supporting BIOS through product release, manufacturing, or sustaining activities.Additional Job DetailsSalary Range: $150,000 - $190,000 Location: Huntsville, ALType of Role: Full-time, Direct HireTravel Required: MinimalRelocation Assistance: YesVisa Sponsorship: U.S. Citizen, Green Card
